Collaborative Unit
This Collaborative Unit implements part of an inquiry design model across three lessons to teach sixth-grade coding students source evaluation, ethical information use by avoiding plagiarism in taking notes and citing sources, and content/infographic creation in Canva. All lessons were set within the larger context of a computer scientist research project and developed in collaboration with a mentor, school librarian, and the classroom coding teacher. Lessons intentionally align with AASL standards and a coordinating SOL. Other key elements include a narrative, community background information, pre/post-test assessment, data analysis, personal reflection, video of teaching, and student work samples.
